Reel Works filmmaker Khidr Joseph will be presenting Clapping for the Wrong Reasons at the upcoming Planet Connections Film Festival at the Paradise Factory in New York on June 2, 2014.
His riveting short documentary, which chronicles the impact of gentrification on his Bed-Stuy neighborhood, was produced in The Master Lab and premiered at BAM last February. This is his third festival honor, with screenings at the prestigious Seattle International Film Festival on May 26th and the upcoming Juneteenth Art & Film Festival in San Antonio on June 20th.
“This film has been shown in Seattle, San Antonio, and New York. It’s great to see that it speaks to so many different audiences.”
The Planet Connections Festivity Inc. is New York’s premiere eco-friendly/socially conscious not-for-profit arts festival. Fostering a diverse cross-section of performances, the festival seeks to inspire artists and audiences both creatively and fundamentally, forming a community of like-minded artists. Proceeds from the screening will benefit Reel Works.
Congratulations to Khidr on another festival showing and special thanks to Planet Connections for supporting Reel Works!
